I have just looked through 1000 messages using “Export” for the search and not found an answer. I apologise if this has been asked before.
I am new to CS3. A video [straight forward, no effects, just a bit of cropping] 1.27 hours takes over three hours to export as an .avi. The same video using Premiere 6 takes 43 minutes. Am I doing something wrong?
Using XP Home/sp2, I GB RAM, exporting to a seperate HDD with 300+ free space.
    Thank you for your time.
    George.
p.s. I have posted this on other Forums but never got a reply.

Export time is almost completely dependent on your processor(s).

Then comes RAM (1 gig is very little, CS3 would need at least 4) or it will start using your hard disks as memory, slowing you down further.

With the difference in figures between Premiere 6 and CS3 [almost TWO hours difference] I cannot believe that it is either a processor or RAM problem.
I am more inclined to think that it is a settings problem but do not know where to look for or what to look for as a solution.

simply opening Premiere usually takes a couple of gigabites on a core 2quad and 3.5 gigs on the core i7. The difference in the processing requirements between premiere 6 and cs3 would like comparing windows 95 and Vista, it’s night and day, so 2 hours more wouldn’t surprise me.
