My AvidXpressPro Vr. 4.301 doesn’t want to export Avi files larger than 1.86 GB. Can anyone offer any solution? where do i have to change the settings? Does Vr. 4.5 has the same problem?
    thanks in advance

You cannot export .avi files larger than 2gb. It’s an OS thing, not an Avid thing. Using a QT reference (as long as your encoding software is on your Avid machine) will give you very good quality – it’s really the quickest way to the highest quality file you can get.

Try here(https://www.videoguys.com/XDVtips.html#squeeze) for tips on creating files for DVD….

No, not if you want avi. Avid recognizes AVI type 1, which has a 2gb file size limit imposed by the OS.

Can you explain your workflow a little more? Why come out of the Avid in to cool edit? Is that how you’re encoding? Is Sorenson not available to you?

I know this is an old post, but it may help me find an answer. I’ve attached a frame grab below that illustrates the problem I’m having with a QT ref. This frame grab is in the middle of a white flash. An AVI looks fine, but uncompressed, due to the file size limit, I can only export 45 seconds. This is not an interlacing issue – I’ve tried multiple different interlacing settings. Squeeze puts out an MP2 that looks like the one pictured below. I’m “wasting” valuable company resources by constantly squeezing with different parameters trying to avoid this issue. I’ve mixed DV 25 and 1:1 in my sequence and did a video mixdown before exporting. When there is quick motion in the MP2, the video artifacts in the areas of the frame grab where you see the most defined horizontal lines. Nobody at my company has an answer. Help!!!
