Export settings

Hi everyone,

I have some files to export from Premiere. The original format of the files is as so:

.mov
format: H.264, 1920 x 1080, Millions Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz.
FPS 25.

I have imported the files into premiere and customized the sequence settings to fit this. Now I dont know how to export with the correct settings/codecs etc..

I need to export twice – once as best quality and once suitable for internet.

Can anyone give any suggestions?

(I also will need to import and export the very same files through After Effects after the Premiere Export if anyone can advise with that also..)

You can export to any format/specs you need.
File~Export (CMD-M)
Select your settings and send it to queue and will open AME.
Duplicate the “In-Que” as many times as you need files.

The problem is I don’t know which export settings to choose when i get to the export window. Would one of the formats/codecs be better than the others if i wanted to preserve top quality in the files for public showing?

Hi Louis,

Many formats and codecs available, and within those formats, endless variations of settings, so no right or wrong really.

What matters is HOW you want to distribute the video. When you mention “public showing”, that could be playback direct from the computer, or DVD or Blu-ray, or a media player, etc.

As for the web, many variables – if quality is too high, file size and data rate get to the point where some viewers can’t watch it properly. Will it be on YouTube, Vimeo? Someone’s website?

Please let us know the DESTINATIONS for the video and that will narrow it down some.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks a lot for helping me out.

I will actually need to do 3 things with the footage.

Firstly I will need to export them as a small size to use on a website.

Secondly I will need to make a dvd to use with a projector at a showing.

Thirdly i will want files to playback with my computer and projector.

Is this enough information?

With the files for internet I’ve been exporting my files as H.264 format.
I’ve been using the preset HDTV 1080p 25 high quality. But do I need to resize the pixel dimensions for web?

Any help very gratefully received!
