  • Export QT movie to Adobe premier?

Posted by Edward Calabig on May 8, 2009 at 7:52 pm

I have part of a project I’m trying to pass from FCP to Premier. When I exported the QT movie uncompressed with HDV codec (I have footage from a canon a1 xh), the person I passed it to cannot view/import the .movs on his pc.

I tried exporting the .mov as an animation but the file size is much too big. Does anyone have any better suggestions as to how to get this project from FCP to Premier with minimal to no quality loss with a reasonable file size?

    Thanks.

Mmm the photo jpeg .mov is still pretty large. Am I doing something wrong?

Set the quality slider to 75% instead of 100%. Sorry, larger files are part of the edit game.

    Thanks,

One more question. If I wanted to export this in SD as opposed to HD, how would I go about doing this?

You can install ProRes codecs into Premiere (playback only). They can be downloaded from the Apple website.

If you’re using CS4, why wouldn’t you use the Final Cut Pro importer function in Premiere Pro? You can also set up Premiere Pro so that it will read/edit Pro-res with ease.
