    Hi guys,

i am new to FPC and keep running into this problem:

I edit a Screen CApture movie (QT Amination) in FCP and then export with FCP to QT Animation.

i just want to keep the movie in the same quality but edited.

but for some reason the movie file exported looks low quality and colors look smudged.

    Thanks

    Uri

If there is no recompression can not be any loose in quality.
make sure that the Sequence setting match those of the footage and on export make sure that the “Recompress all frames” is unchecked.

    Hi Thanks for the help.

    i thinks it worked.

another one question. if i want to export to H.264 for the web. would you do it via FCP or compressor?
saw you web site. looks cool. what compression did you use for the video there?

    thanks again.

    Hi Uri,
To make the clips for the web I’m using a method that I call “Split process”.
I make the downscaling in FC and I export a .mov in 10b Unc or Proress with the very size I want to get in the web. I set the “Render all YUV in High precision”, so the process is done in 32b Floating point. At the same time I make de de-interlacing with a good e-interlacer filter. The process is much faster than with Compressor and the quality as far as I can see is as good. If I’m happy with the small .mov, I use QT or Compressor to make the H264. No donscaling, no de-interlacing needed so the process is also very fast.
The setting for the H264 is Double pass, Key Frames Automatic and data rate from 400 to 600 Mbps.
Most of the clips in my web site are DVCam footage but I’m happy with the results using this system.
You are working with Animation that is 8b RGB so you can not use the “YUV High precision rendering”, but you don’t need to de-interlace, neither change the pixerls aspect. I think that can works fine for you too.
    Cheers,
    rafael
