When creating something for Vimeo (and I suspect a similar question is valid for Youtube as well) I select Format: H.264 and then the Preset Vimeo HD. This shows as the following:

I see the reference to NTSC and I click on PAL (I’m in Switzerland) which changes quite a few things as follows:

I can’t imagine my video being viewed on a TV so does having my PAL footage exported with TV Standard set to NTSC under these circumstances matter? I have tried it and it looks just fine on Vimeo so should I worry?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Your original sequence is in NTSC 30fps as it shows in the pictures, so if you export with the same settings it will be ok for Vimeo. If your original footage is 1280×720 25p, only change Vimeo HD NTSC preset from 29,97 fps to 25 fps and keep all the same settings.

Thanks for the reply but no, for me NTSC is a long, long way away from here. That’s why I asked the question. My original sequence, footage, everything is PAL. I did exactly as explained in my post and suddenly I see NTSC on the screen. How on earth did that come in here? I’m just interested to know if that would have any effect on what I’m sending to Vimeo? As I said, it SEEMS ok but maybe I’m missing something?
