I have a 2.5 hour video of one of our usergroup sessions. Ultimately I would like to export this as several 5 minute segments as wmv files.

Is there a way in Premiere Elements or Premiere Pro to do this? Maybe by setting DVD chapter markers and exporting each chapter?

I’m a software developer and am no stranger to scripts and such. Does Premiere have some type of scripting ability that I could do this in? Maybe set the work area for the first segment, export that, then the next, and so on?

    Thanks!

I’m not sure about any scripting functionality in Premiere, but basically, within any project you will want to create a new Sequence (Timeline) for each movie file you wish to output.
So it sounds like you’d need about 30 Sequences.
You can use the Export Work Area feature to achieve your desired results, but that’s more of a special circumstance function.

Perhaps all you need is a sort of batch processing application. Maybe AVS Video Converter might be a better solution for this project. Under it’s Edit feature you can set all of your In/Out points than set it to split-batch export based on time or file size to numerous formats, including WMV.
