I downloaded MarkerTool and I’m sorry to say that I’m completely confused as to how to use it. I exported an XML of a clip with markers; then in MarkerTool I went to ‘Lift Video markers to sequence level’ and at the prompt I selected my XML file. It gave me the error message ‘AppleScript Error Can’t make {} into type integer. (-1700).

Am I doing something completely wrong? Thanks for any help.

    Hello,

I’m trying to work on the reverse of what you want to do. But i found a couple things that might help you.

Excel is able to read the xml file as a table. There’s a lot of info but the last columns are the markers.

If you don’t have excel, this guy https://www.creative-workflow-hacks.com/2007/08/11/automator-action-final-cut-pro-xml-to-tape-log-via-markers/ created a automator workflow to extract the markers.

It seems to work and give the markers with a timecode and not the frame number as excel would do.

Hope this helps. And if you knows a reverse method please let me know, or how to get the timecode value from the xml and not a frame number would be appreciated.

    Hmmm.
Maybe I’m overlooking something here but would this do what you need?

    1. Since you already have markers. Create subclips out of the markers (Command + U)
    2. Put all the subclips in a separate bin.
    3. In that bin, remove/add/shuffle columns to get the info displaying that you desire to have in the text file.
    4. Select that bin and export batch list.
You could open that batch list in Excel if you wanted to and have a sortable, searchable database (of sorts).

Hello Andreas, I am struggling with a project that is 200 hours of interviews that have been marked in the sequence timeline and I am not been able to export the markers correctly to text or excel. I am trying to figure out your MarkerTool and I am not sure how to do it. What information does it work with? Do I have to export XML of my sequences for MarkerTool to read the markers?

Seems like a piece of software like this could be very useful. FCP 7 did not get it right with the export markers to list!.

    Cheers

I found someone had already answered my query in another thread:

I am still trying to use this marker tool app. I’ll post my results.
