Hi, thanks a lot in advance for all your help and time.
    Problem.
We shoot with a HD CAMERA in a green room, we capture the footage using the Aja Kona card 3 Apple Res HQ compressor. So far so good. Image in HDV monitor perfect and clean. I edited the bit that has to be clean and sent the file to after effects, use the Keylight 1.2 which worked perfect, and export the file back to final cut. And there is the problem, when i imported the file, in the computer monitor looks fine, but in the HDV monitor looks horrible, the black has lost intensity and the picture is quite pixelated. After i tried many times, thinking it could be an green room issue, i decided to export just the raw file, not using any effects on the top. I imported that new raw file in FCP, and the problem was still there. So i wonder if it could be a compression or setting problem?

The way i export the file was:
    Make a movie

    Render
    quality- the best
    resolution- full

    Output mode
    Format- quicktime
    Format Options
    None
    Millions of colours +

    Colour Management
And i click in the Preserve RGB

    COMPOSITIONS SETTINGS
    Preset HDV 108025
    Pixel Aspect Radio
    HDV1080- DVCPRO HD 720 (1.33)
    Resolution-Full

In the original clip, Interpretate Footage- Main- field and Pulldowns-Separate Fields- Off
    Colour Management
And i click in the Preserve RGB

I just dont know what to do anymore…… thanks very much… looking for salvation!!!…
    xx

If you have not found a solution to the problem yet, here you go:

My guess is all of you have an AJA Io or Card, right…? If I did not open a project that rendered fine prior to getting an AJA Io HD I would never have deducted this. But my suite worked fine with round-trip DVCPRO HD & FCP before getting the Io. And checked the same clip on the other suite without Io – and that worked fine too.

Spoke to one of the very helpful guys at AJA and he suggested removing a codec that installs with the A Io control panel. root/ library/ Quicktime/ AJAUncompressed

I don’t need that codec. And uninstalled it. Voila! AE is working fine again with DVCPRO HD. I can live again.

the output from my Kona is displaying an incorrect gamma while using video preview from within AE. I looked at the control panel for the Kona and played around with the “Codec Options”. I change the RGB-YUV conversion GAMMA from AUTO to REC 601 (2.20) which did solve the output to the monitor, but this is not intuitive.
