I have a sequence shot on a Panasonic HVX200 at 720P24PN that I need to dump to mini-DV tape. Does anyone know how to do this? Under file-export, export to tape is not an option. I know I can export it to the P2 card, then dump it to tape, but I was wondering if there was a direct route to tape. I know I will lose quality, but the place I’m sending the files can’t accept the .mxf files. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not think you can go back to mini-DV as 24p HD. Mini DV will accept 720×480 or HDV. But P2 or any kind of 720p is not going to go to mini-DV without transcoding to HDV or DV.
In CS4 you can copy and paste a HD timeline onto a SD timeline. In CS3 you will need to import your 720p project into a 16:9 SD project, scale the clips accordingly, render and export. Same goes for importing it into a HDV project.

I set it up to do it that way but the rendering was going to take almost twice as long as the footage was. I wound up dubbing the clips I needed back to the P2 card and used my camera to dub the footage to mini-DV. I know I lost quality, but it’s what my client wanted.
