Export Cinema Tools Audio EDL – timecode problems
I am working on a project that was shot on 35mm with sound recorded at 30fps NDF. Material was transferred to DVCAM, catpured at 29.97 with FCP, then reverse telecined with Cinema Tools so that a 23.98 FCP project could be used to edit the material.
We cut with offline audio and now need to provide an audio EDL to the sound house that refers back to the master audio DVD’s. As we cut in 23.98, the sound house is requesting 23.98 quicktimes and EDL’s. The problem is that if I export an audio EDL at 23.98 from our Cinema Tools database where the audio information is stored, the audio timecode is all wrong. If I do the same process but export the EDL at 29.97, the audio timecode is correct but the master timecode is wrong.
Is there a quick and dirty conversion process to make one of these EDL’s correct in terms of both source and master timecode? Or do I have to drop our 23.98 material into a 29.97 timeline and provide 29.97 quicktimes and EDL’s (this has worked in the past, but seems like it shouldn’t be necessary).
If sound had been recorded at 24fps instead of of 30, would I be having this problem?
Thanks,
Aynsley
