    Hello everyone,

I need to export a sequence which is xdcam ex 1080i50 to 4:3 windows media.

with cs5, I edited in the native format (xdcam ex 1080i50), and did the export with “crop” activated, 4:3, I put the frame in the center of the picture.

the export worked, but when playing back the exported file, the player software opens up in 16:9, leaving black bars left and right of the picture.

Is there a way to avoid this? I want the player software to open a 4:3 window.

I guess, the “crop” function does not really crop, but adding black over the parts which are chosen to get cropped in this process!?

    help, anyone, please!

The best solution here would be to create a new sequence that matches the 4:3 aspect ratio and resolution you are trying to export. Drag your old sequence into it, and do any resizing, or panning needed, then export 4:3.

What are the expected dimensions of the final output? If I’m exporting a “normal” 4×3 file for WMP, I use 640×480/square pixels. If it’s a widescreen 16×9 I use 640×360/square pixels, either at an appropriate bitrate – normally determined by the client’s needs.

These settings are, of course, for streaming files.

Are you trying to eliminate picture information on the sides or are you looking for a letterboxed final output?
