Expand or Collapse buttons on lower left corner of workspace aren’t working

Did they used to work?
What, exact, version number of AE are you using?
What OS?

Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for responding. I really appreciate it.
After some time on the phone with Adobe support I learned that
I had come kind of corruption in the program and in my Creative Cloud as a whole.
All uninstalled, updated, and reinstalled and all is working fine now.
