I am compressing my Blu-ray files with compressor. I understand 30P is not supported with blu-ray. I have tried 1080i and 720p and Encore CS4 on the Mac say that all of these files don’t meet the BD standard. I am using the 1080 30p file in compressor and transcoding to 720P and 1080I. Any ideas why this isn’t working? I just finished a Blu-ray in CS4 with the source coming from XDCAM HD 60i.

    Thanks, Dave

How are you compressing the footage? Are you using MPEG-2 or H.264? Or are you simply letting Encore do the compression for you? If possible, I would recommend using a program such as Compressor or MPEG StreamClip (if you are on a Mac) to do your compression before importing the assets into Encore. Just be aware that Encore doesn’t like the H.264 clips that compressor makes, so the only way to make a Blu Ray-compliant clip with that program is by making an MPEG-2 For Blu Ray. Here’s a link to a video tutorial on how to do that:

MPEG 2 for compressor. I finally got the DVD to work. I went back in FCP and put the 1080P timeline into a pro res hq 1080i timeline, re-exported, ran it through compressor and it worked.
