  • Exclamation Point on clips in XDCAM Clip Browser?

Posted by Karin Hayes on January 19, 2011 at 11:03 pm

    Hi all,

I recently inserted my 16 GB SxS card into my Mac laptop. It showed up in XDCAM Clip Browser v.2.6, and I was planning to copy the clips to my hard drive (as I had just done successfully from my 32 GB card). But this time, only black thumbnails (numbered and with what seemed like the appropriate duration of clip) appeared and in the corner they had yellow exclamation points in a small triangle. Does anyone know what this is, and how I can recover the data (if it’s lost) from this interview?

Thanks so much for any insight.

Generally that ! tells you the clip can’t be played. If you put the card back in the camera does it give you a restore media error. If not, can you play the clips in the camera?

Thanks. Yes, they are all visible, and they play from the camera.
    Any suggestions?

That’s good news. That means the clips are OK.
I’m just confirming that you’re using ClipBrowser 2.6 and XDCAM Transfer 2.12.

Thanks. XDCAM Clip Browser 2.06 and XDCAM Transfer 2.11 After I tried it in the camera, I tried the card in the computer again, and it read and copied fine. I’m not sure what happened. Do you think it’s a card on the way to going bad or just a fluke?

    Thanks.

For anyone out there with the same problem, I found the issue – it’s with my XDCAM Clip Browser. If this happens (and I’ve checked that the file plays fine in the camera), I quit the Clip Browser, restart it, and then the thumbnails are visible, and everything works. Perhaps my Clip Browser just gets too much in it’s cache or something.
