We have two AVID edit suites running MC2.7 & MC2.6
We use Boris RED4 to composite layers in scenes and manipulate still images and text.

In SD projects only, we’re seeing excessive interlacing especially on anything with horizontal motion, very chunky until it stops moving. This problem has recently gotten worse. It is especially noticable with still image Photoshop files being flown onto the screen. Have tried .psd files with and without alpha, makes no difference in the interlacing problem.

All Boris settings on highest quality, Lower field first. All QT settings are same as projects that were created a few months ago, that do have this excessive interlacing. Example: a woman’s face when moving clearly has 4 eyes, 2 noses and 2 sets of lips.

I’ve read a ton of previous posts on interlacing here, but most relate to video. We’re getting killed on still graphics.

    Any ideas?

This is the nature of the beast.
Unless you are working in a P project, you get interlacing if you do a movement on a still.
(If there is no movement, the image stays the same)
This is a good thing for playback on interlaced screens, as in normal broadcast / DVD / BluRay.
If you want computer playback, de-interlace.
Several filters for that, depending on your transcoding package.
