Excalibur and Pan/Crop
Hi Edward,
I putting together a photo montage today, the first one in a long time.
I’m using Vegas 6.0d and have Excalibur 4.6.0.13828 installed.
Vegas is acting really strange. I click a picture to get the Pan/Crop event screen to come up and then right click “Match output aspect” then when I go to resize the picture instead of a smooth resize it’s kind of jerky. The really strange thing is every picture I do this to during playback the picture zooms in all on it’s own. I’ve always used Excalibur to set my ins and outs, but now I don’t do anything and the pictures are zooming in. Can you tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?

First of all, update to version 4.6.x (send me an e-mail and I’ll send you the pertinent information). There were a LOT of changes between 4.0 and 4.6. BTW, the current version is 5.0.3 and you can see current info at https://www.jetdv.com/excalibur
Excalibur will do the Match Aspect for you when using the Video Scrapbook tool. You don’t need to do it manually. All you need to do is adjust any particular keyframes that may be moving the wrong direction.
As for the jerky preview, the may happen prior to rendering and depends on multiple factors.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I’m using Excalibur 4.6.0 right now, so is there a newer update to that version? I guess I should go for the version 5 as soon as I can.When I mention jerky, I don’t mean the preview, I’m talking about when you grab the corner of the picture and go in and out to get the size you want, instead of a smooth re-size it jumps. Kind of hard to explain.

Open the Pan/Crop screen. Down the left side is a series of buttons. One of them is “Enable Snapping”. Make sure that is UNCHECKED. If it IS unchecked, make sure you don’t have a stuck shift key.
