Im setting up a shoot and would like to view through an external monitor. I cant make my clamshell GVD 1000 work with the PWW EX1. I could try my MacBook Pro- if that is possible without recording to the laptop?
The XDCAm has 1394 (MBP does not) the XDCAM has the composite and firewire, MBP has USB and firewire.
Without any external breakout box it looks like Im forced to go through the USB.
    Will that work?

Here is what I know, you can use On Location (Adobe CS4) with HDV out of the i-link (firewire) port on the EX camera but the EX must be in SP mode, or you could try the Black Magic Video Recorder

Not sure of an HD quality way to monitor with a MBP, I know I could live capture to Pro Rez using the MXO2, just not sure the monitor on this capture window is going to be good quality.

I’m going to have to test my Matrox MXO2 to see if it can be used together with the MBP as a monitor.

    Good Luck

Oh, forgot to add this caveat….

This ONLY works in 1080i SP mode. It will NOT work in HQ mode.

That being said, it’s a nifty portable keyer, as well as a waveform vector scope and full screen monitor. I won’t say we use if frequently, but it is invaluable when we do.
