I am about to move forward on a doc and was wondering if the EX1 is suitable quality for a TV doc. Will networks accept it as the primary camera?

I have never used a prosumer camcorder for this. Obviously, I would prefer to use something like a F900 or varicam, but we may not have the budget for that. Anybody using the EX 100% for broadcast? I would be using it with a Letus DOF adapter.

What about format? 1080 24p or 30p? 720 24p or 30p? I know some of the cable networks want delivery on 1080i. Thanks.

Discovery Channel gave the EX Silver status OK for 100% production.
CNN is using them in the field.
BBC has specs for their use.

The EX-1 has been or will be accepted by everyone. For example:

    Bob,

If you’re shooting for television on the XDCAM EX, 1080i/29.97 is the way to go. We’ve delivered well over “70 HD hours” to various television outlets in the U.S. and no one with whom we do business wants the look you get with 24P, nor will they accept it.

Even when we’re using our Varicam we always convert to 1080i as we digitized.

The XDCAM EX cameras are perfectly acceptable for most outlets that we know of.

Thanks for the info. Are you talking about deliverables vs acquisition?
