I’d like to show clients 5-10 min rough cuts in their office on occasion.
I have a 1920×1200 portable monitor- can I write to the SxS card on a MacBook Pro and then use the camera as a portable deck to show full rez assembly edits? (Rendered out as a QT or mpeg-2 (with only 1 video and 2 audio channels?)

Most of my work is as a DP, I don’t have a full edit suite but I’d like to get the most out of my MBP 15″ and more than anything I’d like to view a top end monitor of my shots.

    Thanks,

My guess is, the camera plays back only its own sort of files. So mp4’s with the right codec combined with all the small files in the clip folders (with timecode details and so on).

In your situation I would use something like a Matrox MXO between MBP and screen. Saves you the encoding process and you can leave the cam at home…
