    Hi

I captured a bunch o footage from a sony m10 wahtever HDV deck, via firewire, into FCP 5.0.4. I then started a new sequence using the HDV preset, and started editing. When i look at the footage both on my canvas and out my kona lh downconverted to ntsc, everythin looks skinny and there is black on the sides. NOT 4×3 to 16 x 9 skinny, but just a little skinny, kinda like square vs D1

BUT if i change my sequence settings to 1280 x 1080 everything looks right, but of course it wont play

whats the deal? i have 20 plus years in this insane biz so i think waht i am seeing is real and correct (or incorrect)

thaxn fro any help in advance

    DRW

My apple monitor is a dell 16×9 lcd, and i also have it coming out downconverted through a KONA lh into a sony 19″

The images look a little skinny on both monitors as well as the black bars on the sides
