I shoot a wide shoot HD of a scene with three people in and use the event pan/crop to zoom in to one speaker but the quailty is bad. Is there a setting to set?

Zooming in will reduce the quality – the farther you zoom, the worse it will get.

Now… HD has a higher resolution than SD so you could zoom into HD footage on an SD timeline and have some extra resolution available for zooming. However, zoom in too far and you’ll still get a reduction in quality.
