Had to do a video drop in to a master recently. Normally what I do is go to ETT, set mode to EDITING, turn off all audio, type in the timecode in the IN POINT, then with an IN and OUT point on my sequence I drag it to INSERT. Now what happens if I do this in 5.1.2 is I get a warning about trying to insert 1 frame. Plus FCP throws up a black screen. The only way to make it work is to put BOTH the IN and OUT point in the ETT window instead of the sequence. Which BTW must ONLY have an IN point or you get the same 1 frame warning. Is this the new way of doing things? I can’t understand why they changed it to this.

Your in or out point was standing on an transition. FCP needs both to be on any place that is not a transition. Always complains about “1 frame” even if it is clearly not. Been a problem forever.

No that was not it. The shot I was inserting was clean, cuts both sides, but for what it’s worth I have inserted to tape before where the outpoint was right in the middle of a smash zoom. No problem what so ever.
