    I’m trying to render my composition. I’m rendering it as an umcompressed quicktime file. Yesterday it rendered fine but today everytime I’ve tried to render it it quits around a quarter way through saying…
    After Effects Error: adding to movie — disk error (I/O error; bad media) (-36)
    (44::39)

    and sometimes another window appears saying…
    After Effects Error: updating movie — disk error (I/O error; bad media) (-36)
    (44::53)

    I’m exporting to my external hard drive on which there is 300G of free space so space isn’t an issue and as far as I’m aware I haven’t changed anything since yesterday and it exported fine onto the hard drive then.

    Please help!
    Thank you

    I had this same issue as well. Were you able to come up with a solutions?

    Is the drive you are rendering from, the drive After Effects is installed on, close to being full. I had this issue and I think I may have solved it by clearing drive space on the system drive, the drive I was rendering to had enough space as well. I will let you know if clearing out some space on the system drive works for me.

    Try rendering to your machine and not an external hard drive. Then copy paste the rendition to your hard drive.
