DO YOU HAVE QUICKTIME 7.4? IT IS BAD. TRY 7.4.1.
ARE YOU USING MP3 FILES? CONVERT THEM TO WAV OR AIFF BEFORE IMPORTING INTO AE.Rendering? Minimize AE. No need for Caps Lock.

I ve 7.4.1 and have had caps lock on will try the minimise, but other than that im a bit stuped!
