Hi, Anyone dealing with the error message- Can’t connect to server. ?
I tried running a trial version and it worked for an hour or so, then started giving me this message and I can no longer get into the program windows.
I’m running Snow Leopard and noticed other issues with Adobe programs, now pretty much fixed after I reinstalled the programs a few times.
I would appreciate any feedback if you ran into this error and a workaround, as they don’t support the trial version. If this is an indication of how Premier is going to run on Snow Leopard/Mac, I will go with another program.
    Thanks,
    Phil

I take it you have the same Problem that I had, as a new user to Premiere, and namely, you have (most likely) absolutely No Problem. I also saw this on my Windows install and thought what the heck is going on. De-installed, re-installed, de-installed and re-installed Adobe Premiere CS4 and it was still there staring me in the face!

Then performed a complete Fresh Install of Windows XP64, and then Adobe again, and again, it was there!

Then, it slowly dawned on me (correct me anyone if I am wrong), that it was trying to connect to Adobe on the Internet and my Production Systems have no connections to the Internet and hence…. No Connection to the Server!

I simply closed the little window after pushing the X, and have had no problems of any kind……

    Cheers,
    Jeff

    HI Jeff,
Thanks for your reply. No, my problem is I am using a demo, where you can’t reinstall etc, and I’m on a mac, and connected with the net full time via FIOS network. The Premier demo worked for about an hour, then it started just giving me this error message saying it couldn’t connect to the server (a ping, lock, I suspect to verify the demo 1 month useage) and closing the window just brings it back up over and over with the same error message.
After trying to work with Adobe on it, and getting no response but a statement saying they simply don’t support trial versions, I just gave up. I will buy another program like Final Cut before I sink money into another Adobe product that is so buggy as to not even work in the demo. I like Adobe, have always supported them from day one, but really, if they want me to buy it, they should at least open up the issue and look into it. Instead, with all Cs4 products, and I own the suite, we have had nothing but problems. I can’t blame them, necessarily, as it may be that I am using the newest OS, Snow Leopard, and that may be the entire problem, but its been months and you would think they would have worked this all out by now, especially with Photoshop, which is running slower than before, and InDesign, which is creeping at times. Snow Leopard was supposed to push the system to 64 bit processing speed, but its actually slowed things down! Ouch, but I can deal with it. In time, I expect they will be updating everything so its just a matter of time, but the Premier issue, beats me. Why would it run for an hour and then stop with the error?
    Anyway, thanks!
