Error? Layers in After Effects reverting back to Original File names
Hi there,
After working on an existing project for a few hours, I walked away from my computer and came back to find my layer naming scheme was no longer there. Ive been working on this project every day for a week and began naming my layers distinctly on day one. Ive done loads of saves, multiple times every day. However, this evening the layers all reverted to their original file name.
In my project, I used around 10 separate video files and duplicated and manipulated them in varying ways. As I manipulated them, I renamed them specifically. Over time I had 45 separate layers named – (Example) – Layer No. 1 – Movie Source 8. Anyways I came back to find ALL my layers had reverted back to the original file names which has caused a huge headache.
Adobe help suggested
saving this file and .. : go to file >>project >>video rendere change the render to software mode
AND,
Go to these locations and rename the “After effects” folder and change the name to “After effects.old”
1. Open finder >> Documents >> Adobe >> After effects (Rename this folder)
2. Go >> go to folder >> Type ~/Library >> enter >> Preferences >> Adobe >> After effects (Rename this folder).unfortunately it didn’t help.
Wondering why this happened, and if there is a way to get my naming scheme back for my layers ? Has this happened to anyone else? Is this going to happen again?
I saved some old files ( which are very different ) but could help me piece together renaming the layers in this trouble file. I’m hoping there is a better way though as I could see a lot of clerical errors/confusion from doing it this way as each layer is visually quite identical.
