For some reason it’s still breaking up the clip into chunks.

Nowhere near as bad as previously – I’ve captured about 25minutes so far, and it’s broken it up into 3 clips thus far – but it’s still breaking up the capture.

perhaps there’s yet another check box with a maximum file size/clip length that I need to uncheck or make bigger?

    Almost there though!

Hope I’ll be able to help you out in future.

The only thing you can adjust is the “capture now” duration.

Frankly I NEVER capture clips more than 20 minutes in length, especially with DV and HDV, you can get audio drift in longer clips so it’s a good habit to get into.

    Interesting. Thanks for the tip.

I think I’ll settle for one tape in 6 clips.

Just as long as it isn’t missing bits out in between like it did yesterday.

Actually I’ve heard so many issues about working with HDV in post that it’s one of the reasons we don’t use it here. DVCPro HD and HDCAM are quite easy to work with within FCP. Frames rates are fun, but as far as capture and edit, pretty much the same as SD.

I’m not saying HDV is a bad format, just not a format I would use given a choice.

I’ve been working with HDV for a while and the only problem I’ve come across is the one we just seem to have resolved – it works with our system just as well as DV does. When you drop in into a 10 bit HD timeline it looks great.
