  • Erasing something by pixelating in Avid?

    Hi:

I need to erase/hide certain things from a music video so that it can be broadcast at certain times and I was thinking on pixelating that section of the image. Is there any way to do this within avid? Will I need a 3rd party plugin?

I can do it on Xpress or adrenaline if needed, although this would be more expensive for our client and it needs to be quick and cheap…

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Sam

assuming you are on Media composer Adrel…
    1. duplicate the layer that needs to be blurred
    2. place on a track above
    3. apply a blur effect to that duplicated clip, most adrel’s come with boris fx, use one of them.
    4. using animatte, found under “key” effects, draw around the area that has to be blurred
    5. adjust softness and voila.
    hope it suits your needs.

Do you have the “Paint” effect on your system? Use that on the area needing to be pixilated. Boris also has a filter to do this as well.
