Eraser tool going through all layers
Hello, probably simple question but on Photoshop CS5 (on the mac) how do you change the setting of the eraser tool so that it only deletes through one layer so as you erase the underneath layer is exposed?
Also if anyone knows on the PC version please do t hesitate to reply because I can “translate” the instructions :6

I agree that using masks is probably the best way to go.
Just step on the layer you want to mask/delete parts of, and press the “add vector mask” button. Make sure you have another layer under the one with the mask.
Then, click on the mask (not the layer but the mask) and start painting either with black if the mask is white, to uncover the layer below or with white if the mask is black.
If you make a mistake or decide you have uncovered too much, you can always switch colors and paint back to cover.
