Well after three plus years editing with FCP, I really oops.

I had 2 firewire drives on the desk top, using the Disk Utility I erased one and it was the wrong one. I just changed the disk name. I have not saved anything to that disk yet. Does anybody know of a method for retrieving the data.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I would call the drive company’s tech support immediately and see if they can help you. Most drive manufacturers can either attempt a retrieval or will refer you to a company that can try.

Man, I can totally feel your pain, best of luck with that.

Data Rescue worked for me a few months back when I did something equally idiodic – I trashed my entire current project folder instead of just a single folder, and then emptied the trash before I realized what I had done. Data Rescue II was able to retrieve most of the standard filetypes, but NOT FCP project files. I luckily had these in the autosave vault. It does take time – a large media drive would require 12 hours or more for retrieval.
