This is a question about opening an .eps file in Photoshop, while preserving layers.

A client has sent me some .eps files of a logo for creating an animation and build.

When I open them in Photoshop they are rasterized, and I only get one layer, which makes life a lot more difficult.

The client was told that the .eps files do have layers. Is there another way of handling these files (install Illustrator? convert .eps?) which would open them in Photoshop with layers intact?

    Hi Bob
While somewhate expensive, Illustrator handles this problem. I open the eps file in Illustrator, usually blow it up 300% because I work a lot in high definition video, then export it to a psd or tif file so the transparency stays with the files. Then I add an alpha channel and I have a usable file.
