  • Eporting VOB to 720 × 480, 16:9 – Failing to export to 16:9!

Posted by Michael Phelps on June 28, 2014 at 1:30 pm

I am working with a DVD in which the VOB settings are as follows:

    Stream: VTS_02_1.VOB
    Path: /VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB
    Type: VOB program stream

    Duration: 0:01:04
    Data Size: 48.53 MB
    Bit Rate: 6.31 Mbps

    Video Tracks:
    224 MPEG-2, 720 × 480, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 8.00 Mbps, lower field first

    Audio Tracks:
    128 AC3 2/0, 48 kHz, 192 kbps

    Stream Files:
    VTS_02_1.VOB (48.53 MB)

I am trying to export the VOB to an APR422 with a final resolution and aspect ratio of 720 × 480, 16:9, but every time I export the file, I get a final resolution and aspect ratio of 720 × 480, 3:2 – NOT 16:9!

Why is that, and more importantly, how can I get a final resolution and aspect ratio of 720 × 480, 16:9?

Other resolutions and aspect ratios that ARE acceptable are:

    720 × 480, 4:3
    704 × 480, 16:9
    704 × 480, 4:3

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

720×480 is 4:3 only. Those dimensions are 4:3. There is no NTSC 4:3 ProRes format. NTSC video isn’t 16:9. PAL is. There are anamorphic SD formats. But not 16:9.
