Hi I am currently in the process of creating an ending credits scroll. I have searched the forums and have found some good info, I just want to ask a few specific questions.

The titles are going to have 2 ‘sections.’ The first being full screen cards for the above the line people. Next is the usual credit scroll.

Right now these two sections are in their own compositions. Both compositions are 2K res. I may have to deliver a 4K version but I am hoping the solution to this is very simple.

All text has been placed in AE8. I haven’t used PS to create the text.

The cards and the scroll are both driven by expressions only. The cards have an opacity expression and the scroll layers have a position expression. I thought this would be best because the speed of the scroll is going to determine if there is any flicker (from what I have read in the forums).

Anyone who has done end credits before – does my workflow seem like a good solution. Am I overlooking anything important?

[Ben Roche] “I thought this would be best because the speed of the scroll is going to determine if there is any flicker (from what I have read in the forums). “

Generally this not true in After Effects. The motion algorithm that renders the sub-pixels interpolations is far superior to anything you will see in NLEs like Final Cut. If you have 4k horizontal lines, there is no way you will see vertical flickering.

However, you really want o be talking directly to the lab technician who will be doing the print to film. Not only do you want to know EXACTLY what the lab needs, you should ask for some offline help. Get some reference contacts from him/her and talk to those individuals who have supplied files to the lab.
