Apologies if this has been posted a million times before, i looked down the list but couldnt find a similar post!

Im newish to APP, self taught and have just did a test render and have 3 nifty files as a result. Unfortunately for me I thought i would simply just have to burn these 3 using nero to a DVD but it seems its not that simple (as i only get the mpeg2 file being shown and with no sound!).

What software do i need to record to dvd now? Will I have to render all over again using those 3 files and if i do, whats the point of the initial rendering that produced these 3 files (ie, can i not choose another setup in APP that will produce a file that can easily be burnt in say nero and wont harm the quality of the video/sound?)

Thanks in advance for any help and apologies for being a total newbie 🙁

It really depends on the version of Premiere you are using. Forget about Nero, it’s nonsense as far as Video DVD burning 😉

On the newer versions of Premiere you can choose export to DVD, and burn directly, or just create a DVD folder that you can usually drag to the DVD.

BTW, an mpeg2 file should include the audio as part of its stream, which may or may not be burned using Nero, depending on the vesion you have… and the time of the day…

If it’s an M2V file, then you should also have a separate audio file.

Many of us do use DVD authoring software such Adobe Encore, etc. for more complex menus.

    Thanks for the reply Vincent.

One of the 3 files was indeed a m2v file, with the other 2 being the mpeg and a wave file. Is it not possible to get these 3 files working properly on a DVD without adobe encore? Do i simply just need to create a folder, drop them in and drag it into my blank dvd? Thats kind of what i did through nero anyway but without putting them in the folder first, should the m2v be above the other 2 files or something?

I have 1.0 so can choose the Burn to DVD from APP but i had hoped to make a simple dvd interface in another software, so i decided just to render it through the media coder in the assumption i could just simply burn over the out putted files.

Ill look into Encore however so thanks for the tip!

Well, you won’t be able to just drag the Mpeg2, or M2V files right into the DVD folder because these files need to be “muxed” into a .VOB file that a DVD player will be able to read.

You best bet, if Nero doesn’t like those files (You should by the way see a VIDEO_TS and a AUDIO_TS folder in Nero, otherwise you may not be inside an actual video DVD project)

Here is one free DVD authoring app that you may want to take a look at. I haven’t used it myself, but I know a few people who do use it and seem pretty happy with it 😉

    https://dvdstyler.sourceforge.net/shots.html

Otherwise, you know that you CAN design menus and burn directly from Premiere Pro, using templates; you should take a look at the help file, that may be just what you need, although I’m not sure of the features included in PP1.

    Good luck,

    Vince
