I’m working in Media Composer 3.5.1 on a Quad-Core Mac running OS X 10.5.8. We’re using P2 media on eSata storage (several 1 TB drives).

I’ve run into the problem when using the Media tool to search for Master Clips, where the resulting window is completely blank and empty of clips. After searching the forum, I figured this was because the media was originally imported into other projects (yes, more than one), and all the clips were subsequently copied into my project. So when I use the media tool and search a different project, the clips pop up.

This is not a desirable method of finding the masters included in my project, because I don’t know what was done in the other projects where my masters were originally imported, so I may be seeing clips that have little or nothing to do with my project.

Is there a workaround so the media tool will see my project as pointing to my master clips?

    Thanks in advance.

This is a bug that was introduced after the killing of the meridien line and has yet to be addressed by Avid. The only work around is to open each project and baby media tool from within the project you are wanting to address. Outside of that, deleting from your media folders when ready to clean house is the only way to really spring clean today.
Not always an option. I always have things I want or need to keep online.
