Embed Number (or text) in a stroke
Hi,
I would like to embed a number in my stroke. The number needs be repeated at intervals along the stroke. I tried creating a pattern brush, but I couldn’t get it to work (mostly because I am quite new to this whole Illustrator business). It wouldn’t allow me to create a brush using a number. I am using CS5.
I dummied up this photo to show you what I want to achieve. Thanks for your help.

You should be able to do this with a pattern brush, but you will have to expand the text first so that it is a vector shape, not adjustable text. Select text, Object>Expand, then make brush.
