I am stumped by something that should be (and I’m sure is) ultra simple. I’ve used c4d for a couple of years and every time this comes up I use some kludge.

The question is this: What is the simplest way to fade up or fade down the alpha of an object and also its texture? (I’d want to control them independently)

A variation of this question: if I want to fade the alpha of one material to a second when I’m using mix. (layers won’t cut it because one is a texture and the other a shader)

Thanks in advance. (yes this is embarrassing)

Thanks, Randy. Your reply was very helpful!

I kept thinking there would be a simple attribute like in AE. I had not used the Display tag. That’s the quick way, it appears…which is what I was looking for.

Yes, using a gradient within the alpha channel is powerful for wiping an object in, from any angle or from the core out, etc.

    Again, many thanks.
