  • Embarrassing Pan crop Question

Posted by Brad Leigh on April 11, 2013 at 5:32 pm

Somehow I always get tripped up in the Pan Crop Interface.
I would Like to display the Left third of an Image on the Left third of the screen, then Pan to the center third of the image but still display on the left third of the screen then pan to the right third of the image still displaying on the left third of the screen. I want the cropped image to always appear on the left third while panning across the image.
I can pan but it moves across the screen. So when I pan to the middle third the image is in the middle third of the screen. I’ve re read the manual, and tried as many switch options as I can see in Pan Crop, but I am stuck. I rarely use pan crop and it always gets me! Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Brad

    Hey Brad,

Don’t be embarrassed… these forums are perfect for saving face.

It sounds to me like you might have a look at “Stretch to Fill” on the Pan/Crop window. I have a hunch you want to “No” that.

Pan/Crop chooses what area is displayed from the source in your frame.

Track motion chooses where in your display frame to display your track which may have crops.

As mentioned, crop by defaults resizes the crop area to fill the frame. This can be turned off if that is not what you want.

So if you want a part of an image displayed in part of the frame you use both pan/crop and track motion.

I had the fill switch off. Looks like the answer is combo of track motion and Pan crop.
Thank you for the speedy reply!
