Elvis Deane’s Website resource page appears to be gone
Posted by Francois Blawat on January 11, 2018 at 5:41 pmI really hope Elvis Deane has not taken down his useful particleillusion website: https://pi.shockingtales.com/
It seems more and more resources are disappearing, like the original wondertouch.com website.
At least for now, you can use Waybackmachine to access some of the content but not all of bothwebsites

January 11, 2018 at 11:08 pmThank you so very much for your passion for this software. I share your concerns but I fear there is nothing that can be done to save this. I still use it but just for my own family and sport team videos. It has been very effective for my amateur productions and I will miss it when it is no longer functioning. It is one of the reasons I am reluctant to upgrade to Windows 10.

It is just unfortunate to see it go. BorisFX still Has NOT posted all the Emitters as I’ve indicated to them previously. But yes, you are correct I am also only using this software for my family, work and amateur stuff. I’m not a big time producer but I love this software. Just wish there was a v4 like Alan indicated was being worked on.I guess this is another reason why software should not have “activation servers” because as everyone knows, servers do not stay online Indefinitely. Better to have just a long Serial Number and that way we can continue to use software we paid to use way after a company stops supporting or activating it.
Windows 10 as a service is whole another can of worms. Since Microsoft controls what they can push to your system, it has already caused headaches especially for businesses like the one I work for.
Christopher,
I still keep getting this site is not available message. At least Waybackmachine has some of the pages still available. But I have noticed that Waybackmachine will take down websites at the request of larger companies like Adobe. Previous info that I printed that used to be on Waybackmachine is now Gone. Not really an archive if a company can demand you remove links or pages. Most of the links for Wondertouch.com now point to Borisfx but there is Nothing there except to download the one .exe file and two .zip files that do not contain the entire Emitters that were released by Alan.

March 9, 2018 at 4:31 pmHi,
I didn’t intentionally take it down, I’ve just been having a lot of problems with my website hosting and it seems to have broken. I didn’t realize anyone still used the site, but I’ll look into getting it back up. Especially now with the new news and everything, though I wonder how relevant all the tutorials will now be with the new interface.—

March 9, 2018 at 6:37 pmAnd it’s back up, though considering it’s over 12 years old and relied on Flash, there may be some dead links. The links to emitters and scenes seems to work, so there’s that.

September 25, 2018 at 11:23 amI also wanted to add that I bought the The Apprentice Magician’s Guide to particleIllusion 3 and Cooking with particleIllusion a few years ago and I only use very rarely. I had to move and didn’t know what happend to them. However I dug out the old email receipt and the download links still work so I was able to get them again. Thanks.
