Oh, please have a solution before they haul me off to a padded room!

I’m trying to download video from my Elura 65. The facts:
    – the camera and cables are working fine … I tested them on another machine.

    – Device Manager recognizes the camera by name under Imaging Devices, but has the dreaded “!” and tells me that it’s a code 39 error

    – The Elura screen says “DV-in” and it isn’t blinking

    – My software (Nerovision, or any other) tells me that no DV device is hooked up.

-I’ve contacted Canon and Intel (maker of the motherboard)– both say that it is a Microsoft problem.

    – Googled the problem and came up with hours worth of reading and still have no solution.

I guess one solution would be to buy a new PCI firewire card but, it could fail too if the XP drivers are missing.

Does anybody know what the problem is? It would seem that XP-professional (with SP2) is missing some drivers but I cannot discover which ones (let alone where to get them and how to install them).

    Please help.
