Hey everyone, this is my first post here. I am really frustrated because I can’t figure out why there is still a white X through my video window after I rendered my clip’s effects filters. When I output a Quicktime, the white X is outputted as an overlay. There is no option to make the overlay disappear either. I don’t know what to do, please help.

I have another issue. I shot a bunch of footage in 720 24p 16:9 aspect ratio. How do you insert letterbox mattes above and below a 16:9 image to make it 4:3? Is there any way to create a DVD that can do letterbox for 4:3 tv’s and anamorphic 16:9 for widescreen tv’s? Specifics would be helpful at this point.

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure about your “X” issue – can you post a screenshot? Not sure what you are seeing…

As for letterboxing, the easiest way is to drop your 16×9 footage into a 4×3 sequence. FCP will automatically arc the foootage, therefore creating a letterbox.

The 16×9 / 4×3 switching on a DVD is a function of the player settings. Your disc should match the settings of your source material.
