    Hello,

I have been trying to create a cosmetic commercial for a few weeks but cannot figure out how to get my reflections (environment + lighting) to emulate the ads I find on t.v and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

The top two images are the ones I am trying to replicate and the bottom one is mine. Thanks

What are you currently using for your environment map? Are you working in 32bpc?

If I had to guess, I would think those were probably done in a ray-traced 3D app but you may be able to get close with Element. The reflections appear to be more like a simple studio environment or something that they made in AE or Photoshop with simple shapes. Here are some good free HDRI studio environments that you can experiment with:

    Thanks for replying Darby!

I’m currently working in 16bc. I’ve tried to use the environment maps provided along with the high contrasted equirectangular images but feel like there is an extra step I might be missing.

Thanks Erik, I will give those a try!

Your material settings matter a lot, too. Try adjusting specularity and reflection to show off those highlights.

It’s hard to say what steps you might be missing since you haven’t listed any of the steps you’ve taken so far. Are you using any compositing techniques, effects, etc.? How about posting another image of what it looks like now and explaining what you think is lacking or what you want to add?
