‘Elastic’ Camera Motion Using Expression
Good evening! I am making a lyric video and essentially I want my camera moves to look like this: https://youtu.be/9Yk9RcqEJDo
I have animated my camera using the position/point of interest. I have that mothered to a null object that has wiggle on it. It’s the way the camera feels “elastic”. It tilts as it moves then centers up & settles at the end of the camera move. My current camera moves have easy ease on but still look relatively static.
Is this a matter of keyframing for hours? I was hoping an expression would exist to automate it for me?

Two things to help you with that camera move, first and maybe easiest would be Sure Target 2 from Video Copilot. It’s free and all you have to do is put Nulls in space where you want your camera to be. Watch the tutorial, it helps to understand how to use it. https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/sure_target_2/
The other way would be to just keep with the camera keyframes you already have and play with the camera rotation to get some camera roll like you want, usually rotating Z axis. Yes, there is some finesse required in the keyframing to get that natural settle and what not, but once you figure it out, you just repeat it for each move.

Doing more research all day, I discovered the joys of “ease and wizz”: https://aescripts.com/ease-and-wizz/
It automates expressions to create bounce, elastic & back. It will also do simple easing like easy ease really well too and has a bunch of preset movements.
To mention, on their website the price is a “suggestion”. You can click on the box and specify your own price.
It’s worked amazingly well for me. I’ve found the “back” setting has worked amazingly for great, dynamic camera moves.
