I have searched here and on Apples site and have not found anything on this.

I am running FCS 2.0.3 on a 2×2.8 quad core with 10 GB memory. With the stock ATI 2600 graphics card.

I capture HDV footage via firewire to ProRes, not HQ, just regular HD. Some of the stock Apple effects and filters will not work. I get an error saying “The effect “Defocus” cannot be rendered in a sequence of this size with the current graphics card.” This happens with a number of the Apple effects as well as plug ins from BCC.

I tracked this down to the render options in the time line settings.
When “render in 8 bit” is selected everything is fine. When I select “Render 10-bit…” then I get the error.

Can someone explain this to me so I am clear on the subject before it is an issue? Is this just something that comes up because some of my settings don’t match, or is this graphics card not capable of handling 10 bit material?

    Thas clear Glenn,
This happens with the GPU based effects. Those are rendered in your video card. s your computer is telling you, your video card is not enough to cope with that data-rate.
nothing to do apart of getting a better video card.

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

..and always a big mess on top of the table.
