Effects shot question
I’m doing a series with my Star wars action figures, and well, they use my Blackberry Pearl to call each (all the characters use the same Blackberry, it’s a running joke) other and in one scene vader get a call from the Emperor. well, i want to the Emperor ‘s head to pop out of the Blackberry caller ID screen like in that commercial wher all the cowboys pop out the TV.
How do I accomplish this shot? I think I may have idea involving masking it since the Blackberry doesn’t move it’s just sits there. I think I would shoot The Emperor against a green screen, and put a mask around him and the area his head shows through to the shot of Vader holding the Blackberry. Will this even work? errgg! Is this how it’s done??
Any ideas? Advance envelope stuff maybe?

I haven’t seen the commercial that you are referring to but you have the basic idea. Once you key out the green screen you can resize the video using Track Motion and make it appear and move anywhere you want. Sounds like fun. 😉
