I just started using ae cs3 and I heard that for the most part all the effects plug-ins will work from 7 to cs3, but because you can have both cs3 and 7 installed at the same time if you have the plug-ins in both file folders it comes up with duplicate errors when you start the programs. Is there a way to have the effects for both versions and not get a million errors when I open them or do I have to choose between 7 and cs3.
    Thanks

In one of the apps put all of your 3rd party plug-ins into a folder called 3rd party or something like that. Now select the folder and create an Alias (mac) or a Shortcut (windows). Now go to the other app’s plug-ins directory and put the Alias or Shortcut there. No duplicate files necessary. The Alias/shortcut will take care of it. The only problem you may have is with plug-ins that don’t place them in the Adobe/AE/plug-ins directory or if your on an intel mac, some of the plug-ins may not show up in CS3 because they are not UB yet.
