Effects display much less pronounced outside of comp
This is a strange one. I have a comp that we’ll call comp 1 that contains 2 other nested compositions. The effects inside of those nested comps display correctly and the effects display correctly when showing in comp one but when I put comp 1 of my main composition the effects are barley visible. There are no layers above comp 1 in the main composition and no adjustments or effects on the composition as well. The blending mode is also set to normal. Any ideas as to what is causing this.

Are you previewing at Full resolution? What effects are we talking about here? Are there blend modes being used in effects in the pre-comps?

I figured out the problem now, I turned off OpenGL rendering and everything is now displaying correctly. Appreciate the responses.

AE’s OpenGL renderer is the devil.
You can use the OpenGL Fast Preview if you like, but as you have found, the OpenGL renderer’s output should always be considered non-final.
