  • Effect to mimic starting and stopping a film camera

I’m trying to recreate an effect that’s produced when using film. When you shoot film and you start and stop the camera quickly, you get strange speed aberrations, mixed with over exposures, or flashes of light. It’s a very cool effect.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a plugin that could mimic this effect, or a way of doing this in FCP or AE for footage shot with RED or the Sony EX-3. I’ve tried manually, but it doesn’t look the same.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

It’s difficult to figure out the search terms for this one, but try searching the COW for “film clutter”.
