EDL Issues with MC Soft 2.7.3
In trying to export an EDL from Avid MC Soft 2.7.3 with an SDI Mojo, we are failing miserably. I’ve heard from several other colleagues, that EDL manager is simply not compatible with 2.7.2 or 2.7.3. We’re about acquiesce to downgrading one machine to 2.7.0 so we can produce EDL’s, but wanted put out the feelers to see if anyone had similar experiences and found other workarounds for this issue. If anyone knows of another EDL generator available that would do the trick, I’d love to know about it.
Seems pretty ridiculous to me that Avid’s proprietary EDL software is no longer compatible with it’s current version of editing software. I know that EDLs are becoming somewhat antiquated these days, but all of the shows I’ve worked on still require EDLs in the deliverables lists.

I generate EDL’s all the time… Where does it fail? Have you tried opening the bin from within EDL Manager first?

I cannot even get an EDL to load in EDL Manager much less export. It crashes when I try to open through Media Composer and when I close out of MC and open the bin through EDL Manager.
I have been able to take sequences into older versions of MC with older versions of EDL Manager and successfully create EDLs. 2.7.0 is the newest version I’ve had success with.
Haven’t received word back on the trouble ticket submitted to Avid yet, but have heard from several other editors that EDL Manager is just not compatible with 2.7.3.

I know there are fixes coming in the next point release that fix the MXF source media to EDL manager that have existed for a while. I am curious about your sequence. Can you send me a bin with the seqeunce to me at michael@24p.com
